Milkshape UVW mapping

So you want to know how to layout your model's skins in milkshape? You've come to the right place. Here you will find out how to layout a simple box, and have the wireframe.

Let's start out with step one, make a box. Then we'll have to regroup the sides for the skin. To do this, select two sides, i just did the same sides in one group, to save time, you will probably not want to do this for most of your model's skins, and then select the Groups tab, and hit regroup.

Next, we do the other sides.

Now we have 3 groups, this is good. We need a material. Just start out with a 512x512 .jpg image that's entirely black. You should always do your work 2x the final copy. Go to the Materials tab, and click on new.

Select the top (none) and then select your black texture, and hit ok.

Go back to the materials and select asign. This will asign the texture to the chosen groups.

Now click on the WINDOW menu at the top and select TEXTURE COORDINATE EDITOR. This is where you will make the skin map for your model. Select the Group in the drop down menu. Then click on REGION, and make the region for where you want the wireframes to show up. Make sure that the view is right too. Don't make it too big, remember you have to fit all of it on here.

When you're all done, regroup all the groups into one group for skinning.

Do this for every other group you have. When you're finally done, go into the FILE menu, and select preferences. Change the pointsize to 1. Now go back into the texture coordinate editor, and make it the biggest you can. Hit the print screen button, and crop the area with the black only. Now you have your wireframe, get skinning!!
